MF&F to play River Horse IPA Launch Party 9/19

We are very happy supporters of New Jersey’s very own River Horse Brewing company here @ Mike Frank & Friends. We are going to be playing the launch party for the Brewery’s brand tasting new IPA that will be in production all year long. This is a ticketed event, and our first show playing at the new location in Ewing NJ. We have been playing events for River Horse since 2010, and are happy to return to a new place, yet the same friendly faces that make such a great tasting brew. Click here for more details on the days event on River Horse’s Web Site. See you on September 19th. If you haven’t tried some of River Horse’s great brews yet, do your self a favor and go get some. They are becoming quite popular in the micro brew community. Cheers!

MF&F return to studio in October 2014 for 3rd Album / Local & Legends Festival September 20th

We are very excited to say we will be starting the production and recording of 7 brand new songs, revisiting some old songs with a new perspective, and diving into some music composed by Mike Panella on this 3rd album. A name has not been decided on yet. October 11th is our start date in the studio, and it is a nice studio. There are some scratch tracks posted on where you can listen to some new concepts, and also to the 2nd album which never reached duplication but is available for download. We may do a short batch of limited quantity of album #2 and sell it on ITunes soon. You can only listen to “You Take The High Road”  here on Soundcloud for now.

Please stay tuned with our fall winter show line up. We will be setting up some tasty jams and we hope to see you out there. Thanks for all the support this summer, and we will play a final summer show on September 20th at the Local & Legends Festival with Bernie Worrell & Steve Kimock. Lots of other acts will be there. We can’t wait to get these new sounds down and we will debut some new material on Sept 20th Live. Thanks!

Tri-State Indie coverage on Bernie Worrell Orchestra show @ Ardmore Music Hall

Check out a little write up in the Tri-State Indie Music show coverage of the show we played on 7-24-14 at the Ardmore Music Hall in Philly opening for Gent Treadly & The Bernie Worrell Orcestrea.  It was a great night, and we had a little set back with our van situation.  We did what we know how to do best, we improvised a whole set going the semi acoustic route.  Instead of Mike Panella bringing his B3 and Leslie set up, he bought an even more heavy Toy Piano, and a Melodica, Mike Frank and Todd Lanka endured with a acoustic guitar and stand up bass.  Todd also had to have the cello for “Visions” which sounded great, and Mikeo bought a light percussion set up.  Doctor….well, he wasn’t very happy when he heard we made a last minute switch to acoustic, but he still got to play a full drum kit, and we stumbled on to something pretty interesting as we all listened back on the ride home.  Steve-o had a smile after the set.  It just goes to show, that a little improvisation goes a long way, so don’t fret when faced with a van malfunction, just grab acoustics.  Check out the article, and we hope to come back to Philly after we burn a new record this fall!  Have fun and be safe.
